Composition on the fly

This session will focus on the creation of small loops of musical information that form building blocks for use in music composition.

Through these loops, we will examine elements from a number of musical styles & genres.

 

Improvisation

Using some basic chord sequences and improvisational ideas, this session will allow players to gain confidence to begin the journey of improvisation on a stringed instrument.

 

Extended Pizzicato techniques

 Pizzicato asks the player to pluck the string by pulling it outwards. But, what if you were to pluck it differently?

This session will explore a variety of finger techniques taken from a variety of musical traditions and genres.

Instrument: Strings but especially cellists

Age: 12 +

Ability: Book 5+
