Flavio Li Vigni, originally from Palermo, Italy, is a London-based jazz drummer, composer, and educator. He holds a degree in Jazz Performance from The Prince Claus Conservatory where he studied with American jazz drummer Ralph Peterson and a Masters Degree in Jazz from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, funded by a Leverhulme trust Scholarship.
Flavio has played and recorded with, among others, Greg Hutchinson Ameen Saleem, and the “Orchestra Macchina di Suoni” featuring Dave Kikoski. He is an active member of the London jazz scene and has performed at venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, The Queen Elizabeth Hall, Ronnie’s Scotts, Pizza Express, the Vortex, as well as at festivals in the UK, Italy, The Netherlands, Spain, China, Poland, Germany, Lithuania, Croatia, and Albania.
As a dedicated music educator, Flavio serves as the Head of Jazz at Morley College London, where he teaches Jazz History and leads the Morley Big Band. He is also a member of the Blues and Roots ensemble, a charity focused on promoting Charles Mingus’s music through concerts and educational initiatives.
Flavio has given workshops in several European countries and in China and works regularly with the educational team of Jazz at Lincoln Centre. He is a tutor on the Guildhall School of Music and Drama jazz summer school.
