Ruben Rivera

Ruben Rivera

Ruben Rivera was born and raised in New York City. He attended the famous High School of Music and Art and studied with Bernard Greenhouse (of the Beaux Arts Trio) at the Manhattan School of Music.

Professionally he spent many years in the Broadway Musical Show scene while after hours playing on the Café-Cabaret circuit. Eventually he got a post in the Opera Orchestra of the Theatre de la Monnaie in Brussels. While there he met a colleague and former violin student of Suzuki who convinced him to enter the world of teaching cello using the Suzuki Method.

Since those days Ruben continues to teach cello in Lyon, France and in other parts of the world. He has been selected as the Cello Representative for the European Suzuki Association for a number of years
