Dan is an internationally recognised, London-based, freelance musician. Since receiving the coveted PPRNCM Gold Medal Award in 2008, he has gone on to perform at major venues around the world including Wembley Arena, The O2, Buckingham Palace and the Java Jazz Festival.
Dan began playing at the age of five and went on to study Jazz and Classical Double Bass at the Royal Northern College of Music. Much of Dan’s career is spent as a highly acclaimed singer-pianist, and over recent years he has toured with Swing Out Sister on Double Bass, sharing the stage with such legends as Herbie Hancock and Stevie Wonder.
After being the Musical Director of the National Youth Music Theatre, Dan was a founding member of his own Music Theatre group, ‘The Company’, producing several five-star reviewed shows. For several years, he has taught at many summer courses including European Youth Summer Music Course, Temple Dinsley Summer School and MusicFest Aberystwyth, of which he looks forward to returning to this year.
Dan currently holds the position of Head of Jazz and Popular Music at Westminster School. He teaches Song-writing and Jazz Piano to his students, whilst also directing various school ensembles, including Big Band, Jazz Ensemble, Concert Band, Jazz Funk Band and a mixed voice choir.
