Catherine Hey

Catherine Hey 2Catherine Hey currently lives and works in Worcestershire as a Suzuki violin and piano teacher, working in local schools and privately.

Having successfully completed her first three levels whilst living in London, Catherine finished her official Suzuki teacher training with Heather Clemson in the Midlands after relocating. She set up and co-runs the Heart of England Suzuki Group with Louise Carey, Sarah Eastwood, Mae Eastwood and Louis Robinson, where children from all over the Birmingham and Worcestershire area are welcome to join in group lessons, play-togethers and concerts throughout the year.

Teaching on various workshops and residentials is something she finds enormously enriching, often taking her daughters along, even to Iceland!  Catherine also enjoys helping students take their first steps into beginner orchestras, regularly writing and arranging pieces for them to try.

Prior to her Suzuki teacher training, Catherine was also a classroom music teacher in secondary education in various schools both in the Midlands and London. It was when Catherine went searching for answers to her questions about violin teaching and attended a BSI taster day in Clapham, that she had her Suzuki epiphany, blown away by the musicality, fun and kindness of the environment.
