Graham Rix was a scholar and prizewinner at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he studied piano with Joan Havill. Graduating in 1985, music education and performing as a soloist and chamber musician have been the mainstays of his musical activities. Graham was a member of Pianocircus for five years (a six piano contemporary music ensemble). He has also worked extensively over many years for The Irene Taylor Trust (music in prisons), Create (Arts) Ltd and Lost Chord as a workshop leader, facilitating music making and composition with inmates in prisons, people with dementia, and a wide variety of those whose lives are challenging or compromised in some way.

Graham’s commitment to music education and its developmental role in the maturing individual made Suzuki training a natural next step and beginning in 2007, he trained with the B.S.M.A. completing level 5 in 2016. He has taught on many workshops in the UK and Europe.

In 2012 Graham was one of two UK finalists in the International Open Piano Competition. In 2015 and 2016 he won second and first prize respectively, in the European Piano Teachers Association (UK) composition competition.

Graham lives in Kent near Sandwich and when he is not teaching, playing or composing, he enjoys the beauty of the land, sea and wildlife. The collected works of Carl Gustav Jung have been a life long interest of Graham’s.
